Spent a great day at NYU

Thanks to Ahmed Ansari and the students of the Integrated Media & Design Classes, Department of Technology, Culture & Society, New York University, Tandon School of Engineering, Brooklyn, NY!

Experience, Embodiment, and the Eurhythmics of Jaques-Dalcroze

Embodiment is the new buzz word in many new technologies, yet the terms embodied vs disembodied are not universally understood. What is the nature of experience? What sorts of variables do all experiences hold in common? What is the role and relevance of a participating body? What variables are we designing with as we attempt to engage with audiences, customers, and actors across various design fields?
Join us for a 90 minute hands-on workshop, where we will use music and gesture to explore the nature of experience. The Eurhythmics methodology of Jaques-Dalcroze directs the participant to consider how the the soma, the feeling, sensing body, is central to our understanding of our worlds, and the creation of environments, communication, and knowing.

Borrowed from main stage performer training, the Eurhythmics methodology is a music-filledjoy-filled exploration of somatics appropriate for all students from different backgrounds.
